The movement in detail
The movement’s idea
In the Tribute³ Au750 your eye moves from the off-centre time display to the exposed barrel beneath a gold bridge. Armin Strom has arranged the watch around its AMW21 movement instead of concealing the mechanics beneath decoration. Announced on October 2, the new version is limited to eight pieces.
Armin Strom describes its motor barrel as a reversed arrangement: the arbor winds the spring within a fixed barrel drum. The brand says this saves space. Yet one component alone does not account for the 100-hour reserve; that figure depends on the energy stored by the spring and how the whole movement consumes it.
The AMW21 is a hand-wound movement with a single barrel. Its technical sheet lists 25,200 vibrations per hour, 21 jewels and 135 components. The stated reserve is 100 hours from a full wind, or four days and four hours under the specified conditions. Looking at the barrel does not measure the reserve remaining on your wrist.
Practical meaning
The Au750 version is distinctive for its materials: its case, off-centre dial and three movement bridges are made of 18K rose gold. Three guilloché patterns decorate the dial and bridges; a clou de Paris patterned bridge is visible through the transparent back. That finishing is part of what the buyer pays for alongside the architecture, rather than a way to increase accuracy.

Fit needs an in-person check: the open layout and displaced display make reading the time different from a conventional watch. A run of eight makes the purchase difficult, but does not change the underlying AMW21 mechanics.
