ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH · TL
The model in detail
Meet the watch
At first glance the TL dial is almost empty: generous space between the numerals, four slim hands and a prominent crown. Designer Todd Bracher put a 12-hour scale on the outside and a 24-hour scale inside it. The second time zone shares the main dial instead of occupying a small subdial.
This is an automatic mechanical watch developed in the ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH partnership with Seiko. The brand says the movement was designed and made in Japan, but its October 7 announcement does not identify the calibre, power reserve or case dimensions. A photograph cannot establish those figures, so comparisons of autonomy and fit with familiar GMT watches remain premature.

The Japanese online store opens advance reservations at 11:00 Japan time on October 9; selected ISSEY MIYAKE stores begin sales on October 22. These dates describe the announced Japanese launch. They say nothing about availability or pricing in Uzbekistan.
I like the idea of a GMT that does not resemble an instrument panel. Before buying, though, I would check how quickly both scales read on the wrist and exactly how the second time zone is set. The official announcement explains the concept; it is not an operating manual or a fitting.
