Longines · Spirit Pilot Flyback Blue
The model in detail
Meet the watch
Blue is immediately apparent: matte dial, ceramic rotating-bezel insert and rubber strap form one palette. The reason to look beyond colour is a manual chronograph in a 39.5 mm case. The blue dial and strap identify L3.721.4.93.9; its movement is already familiar from the black version.
Flyback resets and immediately restarts the chronograph with one press. It is useful for successive intervals without separately stopping and zeroing. Longines links the arrangement to its aviation history; a modern buyer should ask whether they will use it more often than an ordinary stopwatch.
Inside is the manual L792.4 with a column wheel, silicon hairspring and COSC certification. The manufacturer states 28,800 vibrations per hour and approximately 68 hours of reserve. The crown must wind this watch: there is no rotor replenishing energy from wrist motion. In return, the chronograph architecture is visible through a transparent back.
Details and limitations
Fratello gives a 13.4 mm case thickness and 47.4 mm lug-to-lug length. A 39.5 mm diameter does not guarantee a slim fit under a cuff; trying it on matters especially for a chronograph. Longines specifies a bidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal and 10 bar water resistance. These are practical figures, but crown and button use in water must follow the instructions.
The official UK page lists £4,350 for L3.721.4.93.9 on blue rubber. That is a UK-market price, not a conversion for Uzbekistan. A blue automatic three-hand Spirit Pilot also exists: cheaper and simpler for everyday wear, but without flyback. The choice comes down to whether you specifically want a manual chronograph.
