ochs und junior · anno oj blue and brass
The model in detail
The anno replaces calendar windows with three groups of holes revealing coloured dots. The perimeter gives the date; separate circles show month and weekday. Familiar minute markers provide orientation: the 30-minute marker corresponds to the fifteenth day. An initially puzzling display develops its own reading logic.
Ludwig Oechslin’s annual calendar accounts for 30- and 31-day months. Correction is required on 1 March. An automatic ETA 2824-2 provides the base; the model’s interest lies in the compact calendar construction above it. It is a useful example of separating a base movement’s origin from the originality of its complication.
The anno oj blue and brass uses a Grade 5 titanium case measuring 42 mm across and 11 mm thick. A blue background meets brass-coloured luminous markings. Specifications include 100 metres of water resistance and 38 hours of reserve. That is limited for a weekend unworn: stopping means resetting the calendar.
The official shop lists CHF 5,077 for export or CHF 5,488.20 including Swiss VAT at 8.1%, with an estimated two-month preparation time. These are listing details at the time of checking, rather than a promise of immediate delivery. It will appeal to someone willing to learn an unusual way of reading the date and who values a clear engineering idea.
