Chopard · L.U.C Strike One White Gold
The movement in detail
The movement’s idea
Once an hour, Strike One sounds a short signal. The name captures the idea: its owner hears the boundary of an hour rather than a complete acoustic reading of the time.
The gong and sapphire crystal form a single element. A hammer strike sets it vibrating. The material and the way sound is transmitted are the attraction, although a photograph cannot tell us how it sounds.
The automatic L.U.C 96.32-L uses a gold micro-rotor and two stacked Twin barrels. According to Chopard, approximately 65 hours of power reserve remain available with the chiming function active.

A pusher integrated into the crown switches between chime and silence. This is an important convenience: an appealing acoustic effect should remain under its owner’s control, particularly in the evening or during a meeting.
Reference 161949-1001 has a white-gold case, a 40 mm diameter and a grey-green guilloché dial. The movement is COSC-certified and the watch bears the Geneva Seal. The edition comprises 25 pieces, making this a rare collector’s prospect.
