The movement in detail
The movement’s idea
The Speedmaster Chronoscope has two subdials, but the right-hand one contains two chronograph counters: 60 minutes and 12 hours. Running seconds sit on the left. This arrangement leaves room for the scales, although the dial hardly looks empty: its spirals recall measuring instruments from the 1940s.
Power comes from the hand-wound OMEGA 9908. Two mainspring barrels are coupled in series, providing a stated 60-hour reserve. Winding is done through the crown; wrist movement does not replenish the energy supply. Through the sapphire back, broad bridges carry a radiating pattern unobstructed by an automatic rotor.

A silicon balance spring and Master Chronometer certification accompany stated resistance to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. For an owner, that is a more practical argument than the number of visible components.
Practical meaning
All three scales use the same measurement: elapsed time. The tachymeter converts the time taken over a known distance into average speed; the telemeter estimates distance from the delay between a visible event and its sound. This pulsometer is calibrated for 30 beats: after counting them, the stopped hand indicates beats per minute. These are three ways to read a stopwatch, not three additional mechanisms.
The selected steel reference 329.30.43.51.02.002 has a silver-coloured dial, black counters and red accents. It measures 43 mm across, 12.8 mm thick and 48.6 mm lug to lug. Water resistance is 5 bar. This is a large chronograph with an instrument-like character; beside a restrained Moonwatch, its dial asks for more attention.
The most rewarding way into the Chronoscope is the relationship between movement and display. One hand-wound calibre supports both extended timing on the right-hand counter and the central hand’s work with the scales. Choose it for the pleasure of understanding the indications: if a quick reading of the time is your priority, those numerous figures may feel unnecessary.
