Why it is interesting

A strong choice of design for someone who wants a familiar watch with a visible, well-organised calendar.

Things to consider

41 hours is not a long-weekend reserve without additional winding.

The model in detail

Meet the watch

The burgundy Big Crown Pointer Date uses a central hand for the calendar. Rather than occupying a small window, the date runs around the dial’s outer edge, giving a familiar function a different reading rhythm.

The dark red dial contrasts with the steel case and bracelet. A red accent distinguishes the calendar pointer, but an in-person fitting remains the best contrast test: photographs cannot reproduce every lighting condition or individual eyesight.

This reference’s technical sheet specifies automatic calibre 754-1, running at 4 Hz with a 41-hour reserve. A stop-seconds function assists precise time setting. Unlike the Calibre 403 models, this watch does not promise a five-day reserve.

Details and limitations

The case is 40 mm, with 20 mm lug spacing and 5 bar water resistance. Its domed sapphire crystal has internal antireflective treatment; the display back uses mineral glass. The materials differ between front and back, a useful detail when comparing specifications.

Oris lists EUR 2,000 on its European page, but directs buyers to a store rather than confirming online availability. The appeal is straightforward mechanics and an expressive calendar scale. A 41-hour reserve means that a long break in wear may require resetting both time and date.
