Hamilton · Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto «Cooper»
The model in detail
Meet the watch
Cooper’s watch in Interstellar has a recognisable look: a black dial, large minute numerals and a steel bracelet. Hamilton explicitly states on its product page that Matthew McConaughey’s character wears Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto H64615135 in the 2014 film. The nickname “Cooper” is convenient for fans, while keeping the reference is more useful when searching for the exact model.
There is another important Hamilton in the film: Murph’s watch. That is the one connected to transmitting a message through the seconds hand. The brand created Murph for filming, then released the 42 mm production version in 2019 with a tiny “Eureka” in Morse code added to the seconds hand. Pilot Day Date has its own screen identity: the watch on Cooper’s wrist, with a calendar and pilot-style scales. Considering the two stories side by side makes it easier to choose the model you connect with.
The dial’s defining feature is its hierarchy of information. The large 15, 20, 25 and subsequent numerals refer to minutes; hours sit on a small inner scale. The long minute hand reaches towards the outer ring, while the shorter hour hand works with the inner one. Official photographs clearly show how the broad light-coloured hands stand out against the black background, with the triangle at the top providing orientation.
Details and limitations
The calendar is split into two windows: the weekday occupies a broad sector below 12, while the day of the month appears at 6. This arrangement preserves the dial’s vertical axis and leaves the sides of the minute scale open. I like how the calendar looks integral to the composition. However, if you are used to large hour numerals from 1 to 12, the minute scale will require a slight change of habit.

From a full wind, that is roughly three days and eight hours without additional winding, useful if you wear other watches at weekends. The rotor replenishes energy during wear. The current specification also lists a Nivachron hairspring, designed to reduce the influence of magnetic fields. Reserve describes running duration, whereas rate accuracy is a separate parameter; this product page does not give a specific guaranteed daily timing deviation.
The steel case measures 42 mm across and 11.85 mm thick. Hamilton lists sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, a transparent case back and 10 bar water resistance. The steel bracelet has a folding clasp, and the attachment width between the lugs is 20 mm. These are specifications for the current catalogue version; they should not be applied without checking to every older example or to the actual filming watches.
In official photographs, polished and brushed surfaces alternate: the shiny bezel frames the dial, while the bracelet makes the look more everyday. When trying it on, I would assess both the diameter and how the end links wrap around the wrist. Two calendar windows add convenience during regular wear; if the watch sits in a collection long enough to stop, both the time and calendar will need setting.

These are regional prices and do not confirm availability from a seller in Uzbekistan. “Cooper” is appealing as an everyday automatic with a genuine screen connection: the film provides a reason to discover it, while the calendar, steel bracelet and long reserve give reasons to wear it after the closing credits.
