Depancel · Série-R Chronograph Skeleton
The model in detail
Meet the watch
In the Depancel Série-R Chronograph Skeleton, the dial has made room for the movement. Components show through the openworked construction, while orange hands distinguish the stopwatch readings. This is October’s new version of the rectangular Série-R: pre-orders were scheduled for 8 October, with delivery planned for mid-December. The manufacturer confirms 100 numbered examples; buying now means waiting rather than immediately receiving a watch.
The official store’s exact code for the pin-buckle version is WR18AAMOSK.MCOMM1A. That distinction matters: the model also comes with a folding clasp, so the general Skeleton name does not identify the configuration. The selected version has a leather strap, steel pin buckle and 22 mm attachment width. This lets you discuss a replacement strap using a specific measurement.
The automatic Peacock SL-4802 provides a stated 55-hour reserve. Depancel names the supplier directly and says its watchmakers in Besançon check and regulate the movement before installation. Assembly of the watch in France does not mean the calibre itself is French-made. Understanding that chain and the servicing route is more useful to a buyer than judging the movement solely by the country on the brand’s page.
Details and limitations
Peacock’s own SL4802 specification lists 28,800 vibrations per hour, 41 jewels, manual winding and hacking seconds for setting. The last feature helps set time to a signal: the seconds hand stops while you adjust the indications. The supplier’s specification also defines the counters’ ranges — 30 minutes at three and 12 hours at nine — which is more useful than the word chronograph alone.
Skeletonisation primarily changes what you can observe: the mechanism is visible from the dial side and through the sapphire back. It does not by itself promise better accuracy. What the official catalogue leaves out matters too: no numerical daily rate tolerance is given. I would therefore not assess this watch as a chronometer or attribute results that nobody here has measured.

Separate hour and minute hands display ordinary time. A buyer should check in person how easily those stand out from the movement components: an open dial adds interest but also increases visual complexity.
The 316L steel case measures 40 × 36 mm, with a 48.5 mm lug-to-lug span and a thickness of 13.7 mm including the crystal. The number 36 should not be read as the diameter of a round watch. The rectangle and its long axis occupy a different area on the wrist; before ordering I would compare 48.5 mm with wrist width and check that the lugs do not overhang.

I would treat the Skeleton as an everyday chronograph on leather. The leather strap itself makes repeated contact with water a poor use case. The specified 55 hours after a full wind is also shorter than the interval from Friday evening to Monday morning.
The French version of the official store lists €1,595 including taxes for the pin-buckle version. Its terms separately make the buyer responsible for local import charges outside the listed countries, so this is not a final price in Uzbekistan. I like the clear idea: revealing mechanics inside a recognisable case. Before pre-ordering, I would confirm delivery, the warranty servicing route and my willingness to live with the busy dial.
