Frédérique Constant Burgundy: a perpetual calendar you want to wear

Watch passportSelect a specification for a plain-language explanation

The burgundy Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture is limited to 100 pieces. Its automatic FC-776 offers 72 hours of power reserve; the appeal lies in pairing a complex calendar with restrained design.

Why it is interesting

A convincing classical interpretation: burgundy brings the formal calendar to life, while a three-day power reserve has practical value.

Things to consider

The CHF 10,295 price is reported by MONOCHROME. The manufacturer shows Coming soon; local availability is unconfirmed.

The model in detail

Meet the watch

A perpetual calendar has its own visual language: small hands, abbreviated months and a separate leap-year indication. Frédérique Constant preserves that detail, but the burgundy dial makes the watch feel less ceremonial. In the official photographs, the pale markings stand out against the dark background; whether you find the small scales comfortable to read is something to check in person.

This is a new interpretation of an existing generation updated in 2025. The main reason to take a look is its successful appearance rather than another technical revolution. That distinction matters: an appealing colour can change how you feel about a watch without making its movement more complicated.

Inside is the FC-776. Its 72-hour power reserve provides more freedom when rotating watches: a fully wound example can be set aside for approximately three days. That is useful in a calendar watch. After it stops, the indications will need resetting, so ask the seller to demonstrate the procedure using the instructions before buying. 'Perpetual' describes the calendar's operation, not a promise of endless running.

Details and limitations

A 40 mm case seems a sensible choice for a classical watch, but that number alone cannot establish how it will fit. Lug curvature, the strap and thickness under a cuff also matter. Trying it on is more useful than any claim that it will necessarily suit every wrist.

MONOCHROME lists CHF 10,295. This is a reference from a specialist publication, not a confirmed offer for Uzbekistan. The manufacturer's checked page currently says Coming soon: availability, the final total and ordering terms require separate confirmation.

The point of this version is its calm treatment of complicated mechanics. The calendar is neither hidden nor turned into a spectacle. If following a mechanical calendar appeals to you, Burgundy deserves attention. If you mainly want a convenient date display, the complication's practical value will be considerably smaller than its emotional appeal.
