Arsène Lippens Bellagio: textile up front, hand-wound mechanics behind

Watch passportSelect a specification for a plain-language explanation

Italian cotton-and-bamboo textile becomes the Bellagio dial. Its 37.5 mm steel case houses a hand-wound Sellita SW210-1b with a 48-hour power reserve; the updated Artigiano reveals the movement through a display back.

Why it is interesting

Bellagio is appealing for its tactile-looking dial and straightforward hand-wound mechanics, not complications. A compact shape keeps the expressive texture within a restrained outline.

Things to consider

Without a seconds hand or detailed minute scale, this is a watch for relaxed time reading, not monitoring every second. Its power reserve needs replenishing by hand.

The model in detail

Meet the watch

Artigiano Bellagio invites the same close attention as the fabric of a well-made jacket: blue and pale threads create their own relief. This is not a pattern printed over a metal plate. Arsène Lippens uses Italian cotton-and-bamboo textile. Each dial varies slightly, so the photograph shows the character of the material rather than an exact map of the dial a buyer will receive.

Bellagio joins the green Stelvio in the updated collection. The blue version makes a particularly persuasive contrast between a restrained round outline and a lively surface within. Two hands leave almost the entire field to the fabric; neither a date nor a seconds hand competes for attention. There is a trade-off to that minimalism: reading time by the position of the hands is more natural here than counting against a detailed minute scale.

The 316L steel case measures 37.5 mm across, 45.5 mm from lug to lug and 9.9 mm thick including the crystal. These are restrained dimensions, but diameter alone does not determine fit: case length reveals how much space the lugs occupy. A double-stepped bezel frames the domed sapphire crystal, while the 20 mm strap fitting leaves familiar scope for changing the watch’s character.

Details and limitations

Inside is the hand-wound Sellita SW210-1b with a stated 48-hour power reserve. There is no automatic rotor: wrist movement does not replenish its energy. For the owner, that means regular contact with the crown rather than putting the watch on and forgetting about it. Two days suits an ordinary routine, but a longer break will require winding and resetting.

The display back is an important part of the Artigiano update. The official photograph clearly shows the winding wheels and balance, with no rotor obscuring the movement. The correspondence between the two sides is appealing: fabric structure at the front, mechanical construction at the back. This does not turn a standard Swiss calibre into an in-house movement, but it gives a clear reason to take the watch off occasionally and look.

The official Bellagio page lists CHF 1,500 excluding local taxes and import duties, with water resistance rated at 50 m. The reason to choose it is the combination of textile, compact case and hand winding, not mechanical complexity. Confirm batch availability separately before ordering: a live product page does not itself establish a dispatch date.
