OMEGA Seamaster 300 from Spectre: a bezel that counts hours

The Seamaster 300 from Spectre is recognised by its striped NATO and rounded seconds-hand tip. Reference 233.32.41.21.01.001 has calibre 8400, a 60-hour power reserve and an hour bezel that noticeably changes the usual diver look.

Why it is interesting

One of Craig's most recognisable Seamasters. The hour bezel and lollipop hand give it its own identity, and the 8400 offers plenty of reasons for interest without a 007 emblem.

Things to consider

A historic model, officially unavailable. Its 14.65 mm thickness needs a fitting; the 12-hour bezel does not provide a full 24-hour GMT display.

The model in detail

Meet the watch

The Seamaster 300 appears on Daniel Craig's wrist in 2015's Spectre. OMEGA released the corresponding limited edition under reference 233.32.41.21.01.001. This review concerns the production watch: props for special scenes follow their own rules.

The black ceramic bezel carries a 12-hour Liquidmetal scale. It rotates in both directions: shift the scale to read another time zone. There is no separate GMT hand, so you must distinguish day from night in the second zone yourself. A conventional minute scale would be more useful for timing a dive.

Cinematic effects can distract from the real mechanics. Here, the automatic Master Co-Axial 8400 has two barrels connected in series, a silicon hairspring and 60 hours of running. According to OMEGA, the movement withstands magnetic fields above 15 000 gauss, a useful property beyond secret missions too.

Details and limitations

The steel case is 41 mm in diameter, 48.00 mm lug-to-lug and 14.65 mm thick. Diameter alone cannot guide the choice. NATO fabric passes beneath the case, so assess total wearing height separately when trying it on. Factory water resistance is 30 bar / 300 m; for a watch with a wearing history, seals should be checked before use in water.

The lollipop hand, black-and-grey NATO and hour bezel identify this version. A total of 7 007 were made. The model is no longer available on its official page, so buying begins with finding a particular example. Condition, documents and service history are far more useful than the attractive word “Bond” in a listing.
