The model in detail

Introduced in 2023, the Odysseus Chronograph was A. Lange & Söhne’s first automatic chronograph. Its L156.1 combines a sporty case with a complex architecture of 516 parts.

Instead of a small minute counter, both chronograph hands are central. The red hand measures seconds and the diamond-tipped hand counts minutes, for a maximum measurement of 60 minutes.

On reset the minute hand returns conventionally, while the red seconds hand rapidly retraces the distance it travelled, making one revolution per measured minute. It is a theatrical mechanical detail, not a separate repeat-timing function.

The steel case is 42.5 mm wide, 14.2 mm thick and rated to 12 bar. Power reserve is 50 hours, production is limited to 100 pieces, and the manufacturer lists price on request.
