Hamilton · Khaki Field Murph 42
The model in detail
Meet the watch
In Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, the watch connects Cooper and his daughter Murph: the seconds hand's movement transmits a Morse-code message. Hamilton created the watch for the 2014 film, then released the production Murph 42 in 2019. Reference H70605731 retains the screen example's black dial, Arabic numerals and cathedral hands.
The production version gained its own cinematic detail: “Eureka” in Morse code on the seconds hand, visible under magnification. That distinguishes it from watches made directly for filming. Another collector's detail: the first release's special box was allocated to 2 555 examples, but the watch itself was not limited to that number.
Inside is the automatic H-10 with an 80-hour reserve. That is more than three days from a full wind, useful for people who change watches at weekends. Hamilton's current product page also specifies a Nivachron hairspring. The movement is visible through the display back; the watch shows hours, minutes and seconds, without a date window.
Details and limitations
Hamilton gives the steel case as 42 mm in diameter, 11 mm high and 53 mm lug-to-lug. Remember that last figure during a fitting: long lugs can extend beyond a small wrist. The crystal is sapphire, the hands have Super-LumiNova, and water resistance is 10 bar. The black leather strap fits 22 mm lugs.
As of 1 October 2026, the Murph 42 costs US$1 095 in Hamilton's official US catalogue. Other colours followed, but the black 42 mm version keeps the familiar film look. It is easy to choose with your heart; still check case length on the wrist.
